Alexandra Milton is an artist and illustrator. Her chosen media is collage. She collects paper which she tears and weaves into a multitude of layers to represent plants and animals. Her first children’s book Call Me Gorgeous was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal 2010 and, as a Bookstart title, distributed to 100,000 children across the UK. Her other books: Good Luck Baby Owls, Who is in the Egg? and Whose Tracks in the Snow? are also published by Boxer Books in the UK and the USA and have been translated into several languages. For this particular work, she drew inspiration from the fabulous Trees of Life represented on ancient Turkish ceramics. www.alexandramilton.com
