A manuscript on loan brings ruin to its reader. A mysterious volume lures its owner toward darkness.
Welcome to The Haunted Library, a chilling collection of cursed tales steeped in arcane knowledge and the lingering psychic traces that haunt the stacks of libraries, museums, and other repositories of hidden learning.
First published by the British Library in 2016, this expanded edition includes several additional stories and a newly updated introduction by Tanya Kirk, now librarian at St John’s College, Cambridge, and firmly immersed in the tradition of Jamesian ghostly terrors.
